Why do some of India’s most resource-rich states remain among its least developed?
Why do some of India’s most resource-rich states remain among its least developed?
1. Natural wealth, human poverty: Several northern and eastern states possess abundant minerals, fertile land, and natural resources, yet large segments of their populations continue to face challenges related to inadequate infrastructure, limited access to quality education, and insufficient employment opportunities. 2. Resource revenue vs. human development: Revenue generated from mining and other natural resources could have been strategically invested in developing high-quality educational institutions, industries, healthcare systems, and research centers. This raises an important question: To what extent have these resources been translated into sustainable long-term development? 3. Politics of division over development: For decades, identity-based politics—whether centered on caste, community, or regional interests—has frequently taken precedence over discussions concerning education, industrialization, innovation, and broad-based economic advancement. 4. Dependency instead of empowerment: Governments often prioritize immediate welfare measures and basic survival needs. While such initiatives are necessary, welfare programs alone cannot substitute for quality education, skill development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable job creation. 5. Leadership and vision matter: Resource-rich regions require policymakers and public leaders who emphasize evidence-based governance, educational advancement, industrial development, and future-oriented infrastructure, rather than focusing primarily on short-term electoral considerations. A developed society is not built solely through the distribution of benefits; it is built through the creation of opportunities, the advancement of knowledge, and the promotion of self-reliance. #education #corruption #youth #scam #unemployment #healthcare #CJP #CockroachJantaParty
